It was a good day in court for seven people on Wednesday when four of them were granted the opportunity to avoid felony convictions and three others got out of prison.
Twenty-four-year-old Joshua Holycross was ordered to undergo an anger management evaluation follow-up during his community control. He had been serving time for a felony four theft offense. Holycross, 29-year-old Derek Gangluff (felony two felonious assault), and 27-year-old Paul Hagerty (felony four unlawful sexual conduct with a minor) were placed on community control after having their motions granted.
Jerry Brown, 44, of Bucyrus, was placed on intervention in lieu of conviction for two years after entering a guilty plea to a felony five possession of drugs charge. Brown had cocaine in his possession on May 24, 2013. The guilty plea will be held until Brown successfully completes his intervention program.
Two people were placed on diversion during Wednesday’s afternoon court session. Shirley Ann Reynolds Kinney, 49, of Marblehead, must not only answer to Crawford County but also to the State of Ohio for her crimes. Kinney was put on a diversion program after entering guilty pleas for failure to file return and pay withholding and filing incomplete false and fraudulent returns, both felony five offenses.
Between Jan. 1, 2011 and April 30, 2013, Kinney incomplete and fraudulent tax returns and failed to deduct taxes from her employees pay.
As part of her two-year diversion program, Kinney will have to pay her delinquent taxes and fines as well as restitution to her employees for taxes that weren’t withheld.
Steven Rowalt, 42, of Galion, entered a guilty plea to theft and was placed in the diversion program for two years. He admitted to stealing a credit card on June 17, 2013. Rowalt agreed to pay $200 in restitution to the victim.
In the morning session Randy Bucher was granted his motion for the intervention in lieu of conviction program. Bucher will be placed on the program for two years following his guilty plea to a drug possession charge.
