Ice cream aficionados will be in for a treat at the end of the month when Mark’s Homemade Ice Cream will be hosting an ice cream tasting event to benefit a good cause.
Benefitting the workforce development program Crawford Works, Mark’s Homemade Ice Cream will be hosting an ice cream tasting on April 30 from 2-5 p.m. at the Trillium Event Center. Tickets for the event cost $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-10, and free to those 3 and under. The tickets include as many samples of ice cream as you wish.
Proprietor of Mark’s Homemade Ice Cream, Mark Pfeifer, explained how he became involved with the project.
“My mom works for Crawford Works now, she started working there at the beginning of the year, and we had been wanting to do a community fundraiser to kick off our season, and fulfill our mission statement of serving others,” Pfeifer said. “For our kickoff, we wanted to do some sort of ice cream tasting where people who haven’t tried our ice cream before can come in and try all of our flavors to build the excitement for the upcoming season.
“We then got connected with Crawford Works with Robin Hildebrand and with their mission of helping the community and helping county, so it kind of fits that we would have our season kick off paired with them,” Pfeifer continued.
Pfeifer noted that all flavors of his homemade ice cream will be available at the testing, including the maple bacon flavor that was unveiled at last year’s Baconfest.
While no new flavors will be made specifically for this event Pfeifer did hint at new flavors coming down the line.
“We are looking at making a couple new flavors for the summer, but we aren’t sure what those will be yet,” Pfeifer said.
All money raised for the event will go towards the Crawford Works program which is a new workforce development program, and an affiliate of Crawford: 20/20 Vision and the Crawford Partnership.
Tickets can be purchased at the Amish Vault/Pelican House, Carle’s Market, or by visiting https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07edwlk5ufe62c17d1&oseq=&c=&ch=.
