MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced several new construction impacts for Richland County, including a significant culvert replacement that will close a portion of State Route 13 starting today.
All work is weather permitting.
State Route 13 Impacts Effective Monday, April 6, SR 13 is closed between Ross Road and Honey Creek Road for a culvert replacement. The road is expected to remain closed through Friday, April 10. Motorists are directed to follow a detour from SR 13 south to SR 97 west through Lexington, continuing to U.S. 42 south and SR 546 south back to SR 13.
Additionally, a resurfacing project on SR 13 from the Knox County line through the village of Bellville to Andrews Road begins this week. Drivers should expect single-lane closures with traffic maintained by flaggers. A separate long-term resurfacing project continues on SR 13 between Hanley Road and Chilton Avenue, with current lane reductions for culvert repairs between Cook and Straub roads.
Interstate 71 Resurfacing New work is also beginning on I-71 from the Ashland County line to SR 13. Crews will be working in the median to repair cable wires, necessitating single-lane closures as needed. This project is slated for completion in October 2026.
U.S. 42 Rehabilitation in Lexington In the village of Lexington, daily lane closures continue on U.S. 42 (East Main Street) from SR 546 to Castor Road. The project, which includes adding bike lanes and pedestrian improvements, maintains 12-foot lanes in each direction using barrels. Completion for the Lexington project is estimated for May 2026.
