BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The husband of one of the women involved in a dispute that allegedly led to a shooting into a Galion home testified in court.

Dakota Craft, 28, of Galion is facing significant prison time for allegedly being the shooter into a Galion home last May.

The husband of the woman who got into an altercation with Victoria Loftis testified. The state believes the altercation led to a revenge shooting in a case of mistaken identity.

Under oath, Brandon Murphy, explained his connection to Dakota Craft’s girlfriend, Victoria Loftis. He also clarified how he knows the victim (Perry)and her boyfriend.

Murphy revealed that he has been married to Ms. Murphy for ten years and they have children together. Prior to the altercation, (May 21st), Murphy admitted to having a brief affair with Loftis while he and his wife were temporarily separated.

The main issue between Ms. Murphy and Victoria Loftis was Murphy’s belief that Loftis had stolen property from them during her stay with the couple.

On the day of the altercation, the Murphys and their children were at the Perry home, where Brandon was helping with a deck project.

Perry’s boyfriend and Brandon Murphy were good friends and coworkers. According to Murphy’s testimony, the men were working on the deck while the women were cooking dinner and the children were playing together. Ms. Murphy noticed Loftis and Craft walking across the alley behind the Perry home. She began yelling at Loftis before confronting her. Brandon rushed to get to his wife’s side and stop her. During the scuffle, (according to Brown), Craft accidentally elbowed Murphy while he was also trying to break up the fight.

Craft then backed away and left the area with Loftis. Brandon later testified that Victoria Loftis had broken into their house after the two had slept together. She allegedly vandalized the walls, broke things, and stole jewelry and property of sentimental value to his wife. Some property she got back but not all of it.

Murphy reiterated on cross-examination that he believed Craft was only trying to break up the fight and did not intentionally hit his wife. Prior to the altercation, the Perry household had never met or seen Dakota Craft, but Loftis had been to the Perry home with Brandon Murphy in the past.

Murphy also mentioned that they had reported the theft and vandalism to the police, but nothing came of it.

He stated that Craft stopped participating in the altercation when they arrived, calling them crazy and walking away. The entire altercation lasted less than five minutes, according to Murphy.

During redirect examination, Murphy revealed that he was not aware of a threatening message sent by his wife to Craft about Loftis. He testified that he does not use social media and had asked his wife to stay off it due to her issues with it.

Two days later, on May 23, the Perry household woke up to the sound of gunshots hitting their home as the result of a drive by shooting.
