The internationally acclaimed Ohio State Reformatory is teaming up with world-renowned Hollywood special effects and makeup mastermind Robert Kurtzman and his talented team of artists. Also a film director, Kurtzman’s “Creature Corps” will create the most terrifying experience yet for scare-seekers visiting Mansfield this fall. Beginning Sept. 23 and running every Thursday-Sunday through Oct. 30, travelers can navigate Kurtzman’s genius, fear-inducing creature creations at the Paranormal Penitentiary’s all-new “Monster Lockdown.” Additional information about Monster Lockdown, Kurtzman and Creature Corps can be found at MRPS.org and CreatureCorps.net

An Ohio native, Kurtzman and his dream-team are no strangers to the film and special-effects industry. They bring more than three decades of expertise creating fantastic creature costumes, creepy effects, prosthetics, makeup and design for film, commercials and haunted attractions. Kurtzman and Creature Corps’ award-winning work has been featured in some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, including: but Pulp Fiction, Misery, Scream, From Dusk till Dawn, Nightmare on Elm Street, and many others. Kurtzman is the go-to creative artist for standout directors seeking dazzling effects and bone-chilling creatures. Stephen Spielburg, M. Night Shyamalan and John Carpenter, and a long list of other directors, have called on him to bring their vision to life.

Built in 1886, Ohio State Reformatory served for 94 years as a working prison, housing more than 154,000 prisoners and setting the scene for major motion pictures, including the No. 1 movie of all time, “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Air Force One” and others. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the prison boasts the world’s largest free-standing steel cellblock and is known as the ultimate place to ghost hunt.
