The 2013 Hoffman Doll Challenge will be on display at the Bucyrus Public Library now through December 11, during library hours.
The Hoffman Challenge originated in 1987 with 94 enthusiastic quilters accepting the challenge to create a quilt using no more than three yards and no less than 1/8 of a yard of a specified fabric. This year the Challenge celebrates its 25th anniversary and the Bucyrus Public Library has hosted the Quilt Challenge for 24 years and the doll challenge since its inception.
Each year the top entries in each category are grouped into collections that travel throughout the United States. Entries from all over the world are included. These collections are displayed at quilt and fiber shows, seminars, quilt shops, quilt and dollmaking guilds and in libraries. The Bucyrus Public Library displays the dolls during the week of the Candlelight Walk downtown in December. This year’s display at the library features a second place doll and a third place doll.
The fabric selected for 2013 was a gold and teal peacock print and can be seen in the dolls on display. The doll display is located on the first floor of the library and can only be seen during library hours. For more information contact Brenda Crider at 419-562-7327, ext. 106.
