BUCYRUS — A piece of local history will be on display on East Mansfield Street during the 2019 Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival.

A horse-drawn hose wagon from the 19th century will be on display at the Bucyrus Fire Station at 223 E. Mansfield St. for the duration of the Bratwurst Festival.

The hose wagon, currently owned by Tom Doyle of The Little Wiz Fire Museum in Medina, was used by the Bucyrus Fire Department in 1893.

Much of the restoration to the wagon was completed by Weaver Wagons and Custom Design in Dalton and the gold leaf and paint decorations were created by Wayne Troyer of Millersburg.

Doyle said in a Facebook post, Bucyrus Fire Department historian Barry Herschler assisted Doyle with gathering historic information about the wagon.

“Without the collaboration of these (and many more) individuals, we could never have completed this wagon for the event. A hearfelt, THANK YOU !!! to all involved,” Doyle said in the post.

The wagon also will be on display during the daily Bratwurst Festival parades Thursday through Saturday. The wagon will be pulled by horses owned by Steve Wickersham.

The Bucyrus Fire Department Station will be open to the public during the festival to see the wagon and hear its historic information as well.
