Crawford County Auditor Robin Hildebrand announced today that she will not seek reelection as Crawford County Auditor. Hildebrand has held the elected position of County Auditor since 2001, and will remain as County Auditor until her current term expires on March 8, 2015.
Prior to becoming auditor, Hildebrand served Crawford County as deputy county auditor for 18 years, seven of those as chief deputy auditor. Before moving back to her native Bucyrus, Hildebrand served as a deputy county auditor for Franklin County from 1979-1983, and she also worked for the State of Ohio from 1977-1979.
Hildebrand says, “I want to thank the citizens of Crawford County for allowing me to serve them as County Auditor over the last twelve years. Being a County Auditor and a community leader has been the most rewarding experience of my career in public service.”
Reflecting on her thirty-eight years in serving the public, Hildebrand would like to thank the members of her staff and the various elected officials…both past and present….for their dedication and commitment to public service. “I have been truly blessed to work with so many dedicated county employees and officials over my lifetime and I would like to publically acknowledge and thank them for the good work they do (or have done) for the citizens of this great county.”
Hildebrand believes that the public has always valued the importance of having a County Auditor who has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the many laws and regulations that govern the County Auditor’s Office, and that the County Auditor must do his or her job with complete autonomy. “As the “Chief Financial Officer” and as the “Chief Appraiser” of all real property in the County, it is so essential to County government and the citizens of this County that the County Auditor manage the office in accordance with the laws of this state, and independent from outside political or personal influences. I am proud of the job I have done during my thirty-one years in the Auditor’s Office, and I hope that the citizens of this community know that I worked hard every day, in accordance with Ohio law, and independent from political or personal influences,” said Hildebrand.
During her thirty-one years in the County Auditor’s Office, Hildebrand has had the opportunity to work in every aspect of the County Auditor’s Office. According to Hildebrand, “I am very thankful that former County Auditor Don Long gave me so many opportunities for professional development before being elected County Auditor in 2002, because in a small county it is absolutely critical that the County Auditor be able to do every job within that office.”
Hildebrand went on to say, “I do hope that the citizens of this County will continue to demand competency, experience and professionalism from their elected officials. For me, there has been no greater honor than being elected by the voters of this County, and to have been able to serve the citizens of this community for so many years. Thank you to everyone and I look forward to beginning a new chapter in my life that will involve my family, friends and my faith.”
