MARION—The long-awaited return of a restored Lady Justice has been delayed, according to Marion Common Pleas Court Judge Warren T. Edwards.

Marion’s Lady Justice is best known for her mysterious disappearance from the dome atop the Marion County Courthouse in June of 1952. She was missing for 28 years until Marion radio broadcasting legend Charlie Evers located the statue, arranged for her restoration, and restored her to her rightful place atop the 1884 structure on November 15, 1980.

Earlier this year, she was removed for repairs after Judge Edwards noticed that she had a large hole in the side of her face. Judge Edwards noted that the statue is being returned months ahead of schedule.

Lady Justice was scheduled to be put back in her rightful place on Veterans Day. Judge Edwards issued a news release earlier today saying that due to expected high winds, the ceremony has to be postponed.

The new tentative date for the ceremony has been reached for Tuesday, November 16 at 8 AM, weather permitting.
