GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)— A high-speed chase that started in Galion overnight ended in a crash near Poly Tech (formerly Swan Rubber) in Bucyrus.
The incident is currently under investigation.
Hensley Towing of Bucyrus responded to the scene and shared their photos with Crawford County Now.
Update from Galion Police Chief Ryan Strange:
A Galion Officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a complaint of reckless driving. The vehicle failed to stop for emergency lights and sirens and fled out of the city westbound on State Route 19.
During the pursuit, speeds were in excess of 90 MPH. Galion PD was assisted by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Highway Patrol, and Bucyrus PD during the course of the pursuit.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, a female, 47-year-old Galion resident, sustained injury from the crash and was taken by EMS to Bucyrus Hospital.
The case has been forwarded to Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for filing of formal charges.
It should be noted that when the vehicle crashed, it caught fire and the driver had to be extracted by the responding units. I want to thank the members of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Bucyrus Police Department. Their quick response to calls for assistance saved this person’s life.
