UPDATE: As of 11:10 a.m. Crawford County is under a Level 1 snow advisory.

The winter of 2013-2014 is quickly turning into one we would like to forget but aren’t likely to any time soon.

Crawford and surrounding counties remained on a Level 2 snow emergency as of this morning after reaching Level 3 for a period of time on Saturday. Temperatures will drop throughout the day and are expected to reach a low of -12 tonight.

Although there is a 30-percent chance of snow, no significant additional accumulations are expected. The real threat appears to be from the wind which is expected to approach 40 miles per hour in gusts. Not only will that result in brutal wind chills, but we are being warned it could also result in power outages.

Temperatures are expected to remain in single digits or lower through Wednesday. This area is under a wind chill advisory through Tuesday. A dispatcher at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office said there were no reports of any roads being inaccessible, but warned that ice and blowing snow made many hazardous and that visibility could diminish with little notice.

There were no reports of any power outages in the county as of 5 a.m.
