The Galion Safety Council will have a Health and Wellness Fair on Jan. 15 at the Polk Township Hall on State Route 309.

For Safety Council members eligible for 2-percent and 4-percent rebates, the Health and Wellness Fair will count as a monthly meeting obligations. Reservations must be made no later than Jan. 9. An outline of the services and topics at the Health and Wellness Fair are shown below.

Blood Draw (HealthLink Profile). WorkWell 12 hour fast prior Cost: $30.00
Glucose A normal fasting blood glucose level is between 60 and 110 mg/dl of
blood. A glucose level above 110 mg/dl may indicate a diabetic
tendency.
BUN, Creatinine, GFR Levels are directly related to the function of the kidney.
Sodium, Potassium Levels are an indicator of extracellular osmolality (salt balance).
Calcium Levels may vary due to many causes.
ALT, GGT Generally used to monitor liver function.
Cholesterol, Trig Cholesterol and Tryglycerides Lipid tests and other major risk factors may be useful in evaluating your overall risk of coronary heart disease.
WBC Levels may indicate infection, allergy, inflammation, stress, or abnormal bone morrow production.
RBC, HGB & HCT Levels may vary due to many causes. Some of these include iron
deficiency anemia, blood loss, inadequate gut absorption.
Platelet Platelets are associated with clotting ability. Levels may vary due to many causes. Some of these include blood loss, infection, or drug interaction.

5 Minute Chair Massage, Valerie Stone
We will be offering FREE to the first 30 attendees a 5 minute chair massage session to relieve tension in the shoulders, back, arms, and hands. Regular massage sessions help to reduce pain, relieve stress, and helps bring the body to homeostasis, which gives you a sense of wellbeing. Massage therapy is a positive way to bring your body to wellness without medication.

Smoking Cessation, Avita Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department
A representative will be available to field questions about smoking cessation in general as well as to make the public aware of the group and individual smoking cessation programs offered by Avita Health System. Handouts will be available regarding smoking cessation, cardiac, and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Exercise Program, YMCA Wellness Coach
Gather information on Galion’s YMCA (brochures and membership rates). Win a free giveaway (day pass, shirt, etc.). Guests may also use the body fat machine that will be available in this area.

Cancer Awareness & Osteoporosis, Sarah Summit
Information will be available on cancer awareness and the importance of the recommended screening guidelines for the early detection of cancer. Information will include breast cancer, colon cancer, melanoma, lung cancer, and cancer facts specific to both women and men.

A portable bone density testing machine will be available along with information on Osteoporosis. This bone density test is a screening test to detect early signs of Osteoporosis.

Diabetic Educator, Teresa Leatherow
Receive handouts on what diabetes is, understanding and managing high blood pressure and information of healthy cholesterol levels.

Weight Loss Strategy, Shanna Dunbar
