Crestline will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Harvest Festival beginning Thursday, and while the festival will have one stage, this year will see more contests than previous years.

Crestline Councilman Clayton Herold explained why the festival downsized the number of festival stages.

“The second stage was kind of off the beaten path, and we are able to just do one stage and have all the entertainment,” Herold said. “We hired a sound and lighting crew so it is easier for them to work with.”

New contests for Saturday at the Harvest festival will be the Big Wheel contest at 10 a.m., the Hula Hoop Contest at 10:30 a.m., and the Rooster’s Chicken Wing Eating Contest which will be sponsored by Rooster’s of Mansfield. Returning to the festival will be the Sexy Legs Contest which had once been a staple of Harvest Festivals past.

Country Rock Band No Edge Lines will open up the concert entertainment Thursday playing from 7-10 p.m. Rascal Flatts tribute band Broken Road will headline the festival stage Friday night from 9-11 p.m., and Cleveland-based Santana tribute band Evil Ways will headline  the 9-11 p.m. slot on Saturday.

The Harvest Festival will offer much more than concerts and contests including the Crestline Patio Gardener’s Horticulture show Friday at 4 p.m.. Saturday will have a Farmers Market and Craft Expo at 9 a.m., a car show sponsored by the Crestline Police Department at 9 a.m., a horticulture show at noon, the Harvest Festival Parade at 3:30 p.m.and much more.

For the athletes Saturday, the Harvest Festival will hold an Athletic Boosters Golf Outing at the Galion Country Club at 8 a.m., A Faith and Fitness 5K run at the First United Methodist Church, and a Sand Volleyball Tournament at Kelly Park at 10 a.m..

Rides provided by Durrant Entertainment will be open from 5-10 p.m. on Thrusday, 1-10 p.m. Friday, and noon to 10 on Saturday.
