MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Harold May, warden of the Mansfield Correctional Institution, has been officially named the 2025-2026 Warden of the Year by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC).
May’s career in the state’s correctional system spans more than a quarter-century. He began his journey with the ODRC in 1999, serving as a correction officer at the North Central Correctional Institution. Over the ensuing decades, May transitioned through various leadership roles within the custody division, eventually rising to his current post at the Mansfield facility.
“Warden May is known for his genuine concern toward his employees and a strong, steady leadership style,” the ODRC stated in a congratulatory announcement.
The award highlights May’s long-term commitment to the custody division and his role in managing one of the region’s major correctional facilities.
