Plan now to attend the Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District and the Crawford County Farm Bureau annual meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the Crawford County Fairgrounds Youth Building in Bucyrus. Dinner tickets are on sale now for $10 and must be reserved by Sept. 8.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the supervisor election. The charbroiled pork chop dinner catered by Port-a-Cook, back by popular request, will begin at 6:30 p.m. The evening’s featured speaker Hans Kok will compare agriculture in his native country, The Netherlands, with agriculture in Ohio. Additional items on the agenda will include Farm Bureau business – minutes, financials, policies, code/bylaws, and trustee election, the outstanding cooperator award sponsored by Ag Credit and Crawford SWCD affiliate member’s recognition.

Hans KokDr. Kok is an agricultural conservation consultant based out of Indianapolis. He currently contracts with the Soil Health Partnership, the Indiana Soybean Alliance and the Indiana Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative. He also provides educational events for Conservation Districts and private industry throughout the Midwest. A native of the Netherlands, Hans has worked on erosion protection projects in Israel, Spain, and Austria, and worked for the USDA Agricultural Research Service in the state of Washington. Hans was an associate professor at both Washington State University and the University of Idaho, covering Extension programming for conservation tillage and bio-energy for both Idaho and Washington. Before that, he was the state extension specialist for soil and water conservation for Kansas State University, and he worked as conservation tillage specialist for Monsanto.
