For one Bucyrus family who lost their mobile home to a fire last week, there is a little H.O.P.E. coming their way.
When Alex Miller and his 77-year-old mother Mary Miller were displaced from a fire, Angela Moore from Seneca County’s Helping Out Patrons Everywhere (H.O.P.E.) stepped in to help with donations and gathering volunteers to help the Miller’s pick up the pieces.
“Right now we were able to save some of the stuff in the trailer so we are working on getting out what we can to save and get that to a storage unit, and then get it cleaned out. We have a crew on standby ready to pull the trailer out.” Moore said. “We are working on getting them another trailer. We are non-profit so we are trying to work with people trying to maybe get a trailer donated to them so they have a home.”
“We help with clothes and just mainly their basic necessities, and help them take care of things that need to be taken care of, things that they wouldn’t normally know about that needs to be taken care of in their time of distraught, and their time of need,” Moore continued.
Miller was very happy for the help from Moore, and H.O.P.E.
“It is an enormous blessing, because she is taking some of the pressure off of me with my mom and everything else.” Miller said.
Moore said that a bank account was opened at First Merit bank to handle the donations.
Moore also said that while some help and donations have come through, they were looking for volunteers as well to help with the cleanup efforts.
“Right now we need people to help with clean up,” Moore explained. “We also need people with trucks to help haul items to storage.”
“We are trying to help pick up the pieces and turn it into a positive,” Moore continued. “Turn things around and show something positive out of all of this. Materials can be replaced, but lives cannot.”
H.O.P.E. currently are working with tree other families in similar situations, two of which lost their homes to a fire and another that lost their home due to a flood.
