BUCYRUS—It’s out with the old and in with the new at the Crawford County Fair.
On Friday, a ground dedication was held for the new building going in at the fairgrounds.
The new building will house the 4-H food stand, restrooms, the senior fair board office, the junior fair board office, and the Crawford County OSU extension office.
“During the fair, even in the offseason, people will be dragging dead limbs, plants, dirt, and everything else through the courthouse, and now they’ll be able to come out here, bring weeds and plants out for identification,” Jason Hartschuh said. “It’ll just be easier for farmers and everybody to stop in and not have to make two trips back to the truck before they actually come into the building because they forgot to leave all their tools out in the truck. It’ll be more convenient for people and definitely very accessible.”
Many individuals were thanked for their work on the project, including Greg Lutz, Roger Auck, Crawford County commissioners Tim Ley, Larry Schmidt, and Doug Weisenauer, Jason Hartschuh, Rebecca Miller, Jeff Beamer, and Jim Mays of J&F Construction, the senior fair board members, and all donors of the project.
“It’s been a pleasure to work with the commissioners and the fair board in making this dream a reality, and hopefully we will have a nice building for them for years to come,” Jeff Beamer said.
The building, being built by J&F Construction, will feature a wraparound porch and indoor seating to allow for fairgoers to cool off during the characteristically hot Crawford County Fair week.
The building will not be done in time for this year’s fair, but fairgoers can look forward to it for the 2023 Crawford County Fair.
