The Crawford County Veterans Service Office would like to welcome James E. Greter as the newest member of the Crawford County Veterans Service Commission.

Greter was recently appointed to the Crawford County Veterans Service Commission as the representative of the American Legion on the Commission. Greter is an honorably discharged veteran, serving in the US Army from 1958 to 1961. He was appointed to the Crawford County Veterans Service Commission for a term of five years commencing on January 15, 2015 and ending on January 14, 2020.

Greter replaces Herb L. Kraft as the American Legion representative on the Commission. Kraft has represented the American Legion on the Crawford County Veterans Service Commission for 49 years, from February 3, 1967 to his retirement on January 14, 2015, and as the President of the Commission from January 15, 2002 to January 14, 2015. Kraft is an honorably discharged veteran of the US Navy, serving in World War II from November 24, 1942 to January 17, 1946.

Larry J. Patton succeeds Kraft as the President of the Crawford County Veterans Service Commission. Patton is an honorably discharged veteran of the US Army, serving from 1960 to 1964, and represents the Army-Navy Union on the Crawford County Veterans Service Commission.

The other members of the Crawford County Veterans Service Commission are Kenneth E. Swain representing the AMVETS, and now the Commission’s Vice-President, Robert Gobrecht representing the VFW, and now the Commission’s Secretary, and Alan E. Young representing the DAV as a Commission Member.

The Crawford County Veterans Service Commission’s offices are located at 112 East Mansfield Street, Suite 95 in Bucyrus, Ohio. They provide assistance to veterans and their dependents in filing for a wide variety of Federal and State benefits, as well as provide transportation to the VA medical center in Cleveland.
