The event that shows off classic cars in downtown Bucyrus has itself become a classic. The Crawford County Customs and Classic Car Club will host the 25th Graffiti Cruise on Saturday.
Although cars will begin lining South Sandusky Avenue and Washington Square Saturday morning, the show is officially from 2 p.m. to midnight on Sandusky Avenue. Toby Ransom says 211 cars have already pre-registered and last year more than 400 classics visited Bucyrus so many more are expected.
The 2015 number was down from previous years in large part because of inclement weather.
Registration on Saturday is from noon to 4 p.m. at City Hall. Registration is $20 and as Ransom explained, some of the fees go for a good cause.
“Registration is $20 and a portion of that will be donated to a charity,” Ransom said. “We raised it last year and by doing so we were able to donate over $2,900 to the Backpack Program . . . . . . which you know is really good.”
This year Crawford County Customs and Classic Car Club will be donating the designated money from registrations to a charity yet to be determined in honor of Chuck Billings. Billings was a long-time club member who recently died.
There will be a major change for this year’s show. In past years cars registered had to be from the 1979 model year or newer. This year that model year has been bumped to 1991 opening the show to a whole new era of vehicles while still including those who have been the highlight in past shows.
Awards from the car show will be given at 9:30 Saturday evening.
The Food Court will be located on Rensselaer Street. Bucyrus Outreach Restoration Network (BORN) will again sponsor a Swap Meet at the show.
Ransom noted that all traffic laws will be enforced for the sake of safety.
