In honor of National Poetry Month in April, Galion Public Library will hold its 5th Annual Poetry Contest. We encourage poets aged 18 years and older to submit an original poem for a chance to win this popular contest.

Submissions may be dropped off at the Galion Public Library, 123 N. Market St., during library hours throughout National Library Week: Monday, April 14 – Saturday, April 19, 2013.

Each poet will be permitted to enter only one poem for the judges’ consideration.

Submitted poetry must be:
1) an original creation of the submitter,
2) typewritten,
3) no more than 40 lines in length,
4) never previously published.

Poems will be judged on thoughtfulness, grammar, tone, creativity, style and appearance. No additional artwork, please.

Winners will be announced by Monday, April 28th. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place poems. Winning poems will also be displayed at the library and on our web site.

Please call 419-468-3203 or email cnolen@galionlibrary.net with any questions regarding the 5th Annual Galion Public Library Poetry Contest.
