Come and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas at Bucyrus’s Good Hope Lutheran.
There will be two services on Christmas Eve, and as always, special music will play an important role. At the 7:30 p.m. celebration, the Spirit of Praise Choir will start the service with “Dance of Joy,” an anthem full of joyful exuberance, drawing the assembly into praise and worship of our Savior. The second anthem is “For Unto Us a Child Is Born,” set to Handel’s Messiah. It is a triumphant Christmas anthem featuring both the classic and contemporary. Following the singing of “Silent Night” with lighting of individual candles, the last anthem is “Carry Your Candle High” from the musical Wings of Joy. It is a moving ballad of mission and evangelism and leads to the final celebratory carol “Joy to the World.” Pre-music for this 7:30 service includes both vocal and instrumental solos, duets, and Spirit of Praise Choir songs.
The Christmas Eve late service will begin at 11 p.m. This service features the Senior Choir’s performance of Silence and the Sound by Heather Sorenson. More than a retelling of the nativity, this work explores both the ministry and the majesty of Christ’s Birth. Filled with original sacred songs and beloved carols, this innovative cantata is not only a beautiful concert moment, but also a true worship experience. The richness of both contemporary and traditional elements, along with thoughtful narrations and soloists, make this work the perfect blend of artistry and ministry. Pre-music for this 11 p.m. service features a variety of both vocal and instrumental soloists from both Good Hope and the Bucyrus community. This service will be broadcast live over WQEL 92.7 FM.
Come early and take your time to enjoy the extensive decorations that point to the Christ Child. Among the 32 trees are a nativity tree decorated with manger scenes from all over the world and a Chrismon tree bearing ornaments in the shape of Christian symbols. The biggest tree, decorated in the colors of the season, will usher you into the sanctuary where you will see two 5’ by 8’ angels proclaiming the Birth. Much has been prepared. Welcome!
