NEWS RELEASE:
A free community concert will be held on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5, at 4 PM, at Bucyrus Good Hope Lutheran Church, 129 W. Charles St. There will be local vocalists, instrumentalists, the Senior Choir, and congregational singing of some of Johann Sebastian Bach’s timeless sacred works. The hundreds of works this musical giant created are usually heard not only as music of powerful chords but also as music written by one with a devout relationship with God.
Good Hope has a Bunn=Minnick IV manual 48 rank pipe organ. A Columbus, Ohio, news reporter concluded that “the sound of a Bunn=Minnick] is so encompassing, uplifting, and just plain beautiful that its value to the soul is incomparable. When a Bunn-Minnick plays, ‘A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,’ we believe it.” Though Bach composed his music for the principal Lutheran churches of the city of Leipzig, Germany, come join us and hear and sing what Bach sounds like in our church.
We will also be celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of the ordination of Rev. James Barkenquast, a well-known pastor in our area. Refreshments will follow.
