Press release

The Crawford County Special Deputies will be holding a golf scramble on Sept. 17.

The golf scramble is a fundraiser for the Special Deputy Unit, which is made up of volunteers who hold other full-time occupations but still contribute their service to the community. The deputies pay for their own schooling, uniforms, and equipment. The unit is funded entirely by providing security at the Crawford County Fair, fundraisers, and through public donations.

Registration and hole sponsor deadline is Aug. 26. The four-person scramble is limited to 21 teams due to the availability of golf carts. The cost is $60 per person or $240 per team.

The event will be held at the Golf Club of Bucyrus, 1330 E. Mansfield St., Bucyrus. Registration check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. A catered dinner will be served after the outing. There will be cash prizes for first and second places, along with door prizes, 50/50 raffle, skins game optional, and putting and chipping challenges.

The registration form can be found here.

The Crawford County Reserve Deputies will also be drawing the winning ticket for a gun raffle during the scramble. The gun to be raffled is a Stevens Over/Under Model 512 with accessories. The cost of a ticket is $10. Only 500 tickets will be sold. Though the winner does not need to be present during the drawing, the gun must be picked up at Baker Brothers, 400 S. Walnut St., Bucyrus.
