With items gathering dust in storage Bucyrus City Schools decided to sell off a few items of the school’s past at an auction at the Lincoln Administrative Center Tuesday afternoon.

Items from the school’s past such as bookshelves from the old elementary building, a working, but school decommissioned lawn mower tractor, a decommissioned bus, desks, tables, books and coolers and many more items were sold.

Bucyrus City Schools Superintendent Kimmel explained why the school was holding the auction.

“We identified some items that were no longer used by the district and it is to free up storage space at Lincoln,” Kimmel said.

The lawn mower sold for $1,300 to a couple. The bus sold for $1,600 to Knecht’s Auto Recycling who has plans to scrap the bus out.

Quite possibly the deal of the day went to Brian Greene who purchased a large bookshelf cabinet with framed glass doors for $17.50. Greene explained what he was going to do with the shelf.

“I plan on using the case for my wife’s Precious Moments memorabilia,” Greene said. “For $17.50, you can’t go wrong.”

Mike Zahn, of Gebhardt Auctions, was the auctioneer for the event with proceeds going directly to the school. The items auctioned off raised a total of $5,200.
