The Pioneer Career and Technology Center’s Board of Education accepted the retirement resignation of Superintendent Glenna Cannon at the Nov.17 board meeting.

glenna cannonCannon stated in her letter of resignation, “It is with mixed emotions that I am asking the Board of Education to approve my retirement resignation effective Dec. 31, 2014. I have 35.44 years in the State Teacher Retirement System and have been honored to spend the last 28 years of that time at Pioneer Career and Technology Center. In those 28 years I have seen many accomplishments due to the strength and dedication of our staff.”

Cannon went on to say, “In the last nine years, I have been blessed to serve as the superintendent of this great organization. During that time we have built a strong, student-focused educational team, increased enrollment, negotiated three long-term faculty contracts through Interest Based Bargaining, completed a $32-million renovation project and passed a 1.7-mil replacement levy. The strength of this organization is a direct result of the diligent efforts of the Board of Education, administrative team, faculty and classified staff working together to provide quality career-technical and academic education to our students. I am very proud that I was able to be the leader of this fine organization.”

“Please accept my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to work with such great people in our communities. You have been extremely supportive of Pioneer and our students. We have worked together to ensure that the students are provided job training skills that prepare them for the workforce, military, apprenticeships or post-secondary education,” Cannon said.

Now, the Board of Education will go to work to select the next superintendent to lead Pioneer. Cannon promises to provide assistance to her successor to assure a smooth transition. She concluded her resignation with this comment, “I am and always will be dedicated to the work of Pioneer Career and Technology Center.”
