For a final meeting, a council member couldn’t ask for a better send-off. Crestline’s Village Council meeting was short, sweet and to the point Monday night.

John Gledhill tendered his resignation as a Crestline Village Council member during Monday night’s meeting.

“We always knew we had the best interests of Crestline at heart,” Gledhill said about working with his fellow council members.

Gledhill had been appointed to the council seat and then ran two times after that. He thanked everyone who had supported him over the years and especially thanked past and present council members he has worked with.

“It’s a pleasure working with you, John,” said council member Clayton Herold as he leaned over and shook Gledhill’s hand. “You will be missed.”

Gledhill, who serves as chairman of the Legislation Committee, reported that, after conferring with Chief Butler and Chief Weisman, the village will continue to do its own residential building inspections rather than contract out for it.

Sewer, Water and Public Utilities Committee chairman David Crokie reported that the village is considering extending the waterline out to St. Rt. 598.

Herold presented the “Eye Candy” Property of the Year award to John and Amanda Shade, who reside at 309 W. Bucyrus Rd.

A Harvest Festival meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Nov. 14.

The Finance Committee meeting has been scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 25.

There will be a tree lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5. Proceeds from the light sales will go towards projects for the Community Development Team.

The Santa Parade will take place at 2 p.m. on Dec. 15. It was announced that there will be no Santa House this year but Santa will be available for a few hours after the parade.
