BUCYRUS—Girl Scout Troop #3533 has been busy giving back to the community that has supported them in so many ways. Since early January, our local Girl Scouts have been selling cookies to friends, families, co-workers, and even outside Walmart. Each year after our cookie sale is over, we give a portion of our cookie profits to a local non-profit organization. This year our troop chose to donate to the Bucyrus Backpack Program LLC.
In addition to donating a portion of our cookie profits, we like to donate our time. Kathy Wells, President of the Backpack Program, opened our time together with a presentation about what the Backpack Program does for students and who benefits from this wonderful program. Our troop was able to donate a check in the amount of $250 to the Bucyrus Backpack Program LLC. Our check will provide weekend meals for 50 friends at Bucyrus Elementary school.
That adds up to 300 meals and 150 snacks just for selling Girl Scout cookies in our community. In addition, our girls in grades kindergarten through third grade pitched in and filled approximately 230 bags with food benefiting students from Bucyrus, Wynford, Colonel Crawford, Buckeye Central, Crestline, St Joe Crestline, Fairway preschool.
