Press release

Start your holiday season with a bit of edible art and let your imagination go wild! Galion Public Library (123 N. Market St., Galion) is pleased to announce the return of its ever-popular Gingerbread House Contest.

Entries should be brought to the library starting Saturday, November 26th. Entrants may use any edible ingredient to construct their “gingerbread” houses. This year, bonus points will be given to creations that are “island-themed” to fit our Polynesian Island themed Open House.

Judges will award first and second place prizes for each of the following categories: “Ages 9 & under,” “Ages 10 & up,” and “Groups.” Additionally, a grand prize for “Best in Show” will be determined by popular vote – so entrants will want to get their houses submitted as early in the week as possible to get as many “Best in Show” votes as they can!

Submitted creations will be placed on display at the library between November 26th and December, 3rd. Patrons will be encouraged to visit the library and vote for their favorite house. Judging will take place on the morning of Dec. 3rd, prior to Galion Public Library’s Holiday Open House. Contestants do not need to be present to win.

Entry forms are available at the library’s main desk. If you have questions, please call 419-468-3203.
