The Galion High School will host its annual winter music programs during the holiday season. The event, featuring both vocal and instrumental music groups, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Galion High School gymnasium Monday, Dec. 12. The groups will perform in the following order: Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, Showtunes show choir, Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Choir and the combined choirs.
The Concert Choir will sing “Mister Santa”, “Believe” and “Sing Out with Praise”. Selections for the Symphonic Band include “Festival Español” by Gene Milford, “Celtic Bell Carol” arranged by Robert W. Smith, and “A Most Wonderful Christmas” by Robert Sheldon. The Showtunes show choir will sing “J.B.M.C.A” arranged by Jeff Funk, “Fruitcake” written by Philip Hagemann and Penny Leka, and “At Christmas” arranged by Mac Huff. The Jazz Ensemble will be performing “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” arranged by Jerry Nowak, “Silent Night” arranged by Mark Taylor, and “Hot Chocolate” from the Polar Express by Ballard/Silvestri and arranged by John Berry.
The Symphonic Choir will sing “Sleighbells” arranged by Earlene Rentz, “When Christmas Comes to Town” arranged by Alan Billingsley, and “Glory Hallelu!” written by Don Besig. The combined choirs, who will be joined by Galion alumni, will sing “Hallelujah Chorus” written G. F. Handel.
