BUCYRUS—Interim Law Director Brian Gernert is free from jail after an appearance in Crawford County Municipal Court Tuesday afternoon.
Gernert is charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to a report from the Ohio Highway Patrol.
He is additionally charged with refusing to submit to a blood alcohol test, driving on a suspended license, and failure to wear a safety belt, according to the patrol report.
After entering not guilty pleas, Gernert was released on a personal recognizance bond with a stipulation that he wear a SCRAM Bracelet.
Like a breathalyzer for the ankle, the SCRAM control alcohol monitoring bracelet provides 24/7 transdermal alcohol testing.
By automatically sampling the wearer’s perspiration every 30 minutes, the bracelet eliminates testing gaps and encourages accountability. (scramsystems.com)
According to reports, Gernert was stopped by a trooper from the patrol’s Bucyrus post for a marked lanes violation at 11:32 p.m. Friday on Mansfield Street near Holmes Center Road. He was taken into custody, where he remained until his court appearance today.
