Phil Gerber, President and CEO of First Federal Community Bank of Bucyrus, has announced his retirement effective December 31, 2016. Phil’s career spans 44 years in the banking industry all in Bucyrus. Working first at the former Farmers Citizens Bank of Bucyrus for 24 years in various positions and concluding at First Federal Community Bank for 20 years where he has been the President and CEO since 2005.
Under Phil’s leadership our bank has added two branches to complement to main office and the South Branch; one located on the east side of Bucyrus and one in Marysville Ohio. There have been Loan Originating offices added as well, in Cleveland OH, Columbus OH, Grove City OH, Marysville, OH and Sarasota Fla.
Following graduation from Wynford Local Schools, Phil attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from the Ohio School of Banking at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio School of Bank Marketing and the Ohio School of Commercial Lending both at Miami University in Oxford. He is also a graduate of the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Phil has been involved in various community organizations as well including; Junior Advisory Board of the Crawford County Auto Club (AAA), Clerk/Treasurer for the Bucyrus Public Library, a Special Deputy Clerk for Trusteeships for the Crawford County Municipal Court, Treasurer/Board of Trustees of the former Bucyrus Community Hospital, The Bucyrus Kiwanis Club, Bucyrus Area Community Foundation and the John Q. Shunk Associations.
As you can see Phil has been a very successful and busy person over his business lifetime and has not only contributed to the growth of Banking in our community but also has contributed heavily to the community in service organizations.
Although retiring from FFCB, Phil will remain a director on the Board of Directors at First Federal. Please stop into the Bank and wish Phil a long, happy and earned retirement.
