Avita Health System is pleased to welcome Joseph Centa, MD, to its team of surgeons. Board-certified in general surgery, Dr. Centa cares for patients of all ages at two clinic locations: 2001 W. Fourth Street in Ontario and 1593 Olentangy Road in Galion.
“I am excited to join the surgical services team at Avita,” comments Dr. Centa. “It is a great opportunity for me to work alongside Dr. Daryl Sander and Dr. Eric Kuivinen, and continue providing outstanding surgical care for patients in this area.”
Dr. Centa earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Toledo. He then advanced his education with a Medical Doctorate from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, followed by a Residency in General Surgery at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut. Prior to joining Avita, Dr. Centa worked as both a General Surgeon and the Director of Trauma at Fisher Titus Medical Center.
A general surgeon is trained to diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of diseases that may require surgery. They commonly provide surgical treatment to individuals who have conditions of the digestive tract, abdomen (including the esophagus, stomach, bowels, colon, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder), endocrine system, breast, skin, and soft tissue. Dr. Centa also provides thyroid surgery and minimally invasive, laparoscopic surgery.
