Whatever consumers have come to expect in the way of summer gasoline prices has gone the way of service station attendants washing windshields during a stop at the pumps.
Traditionally the July 4 holiday marks a summer spike in gas prices but it appears as though the reverse may be the case in the summer of 2013. Gas prices hit the $4 per gallon mark all around the state a few weeks ago, but right now in the Columbus area several stations are posting prices at $2.96.
The statewide average is about $3.48 and in Bucyrus Monday morning it was $3.44 with prices higher in both Crestline and Galion, but substantially below what they were the week after the Memorial Day weekend.
It marks the third consecutive of declining gas prices in the state.
