Galion Middle School math teacher Todd Roston was selected as the Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month for December 2014. Roston teaches sixth and seventh grade students.
The educational recognition programs sponsored by the Ohio Lottery provide opportunities to recognize the outstanding classroom achievements of students and teachers. Roston was selected as the nominee for several reasons.
“Mr. Roston goes above and beyond to assist our students,” Galion Middle School Principal Jennifer Allerding said. “He has high expectations in the classroom and his lessons are rigorous and meaningful.”
Described as an “ideal” teacher, Roston works hard and shows a great concern for his students and fellow faculty at Galion Middle School. He teaches sixth and seventh grade math, and works tirelessly to find ways to help students that struggle. Roston is seen on a daily basis approaching each student, and his fellow teachers, with a kind spirit, helpful nature and smile on his face.
“It is always nice to hear that someone thinks you are doing a good job, so I was very appreciative to receive the award,” Roston said. “We have a lot of outstanding teachers in this District, and I am honored to be selected for this recognition.”
For being recognized as a Teacher of the Month, Roston will receive an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery along with a gift card.
“Teachers have a tremendous impact on our students,” Superintendent Mark Stefanik said. “When teachers go the extra mile to help improve the lives of their students in and out of the classroom, recognition is warranted and, in Mr. Roston’s case, well deserved.”
