GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Brownella Cottage is offering three distinct and spooky experiences this October, catering to adults looking for a spirited night out, families seeking a fun trick-or-treat environment, and brave souls wishing to spend Halloween night investigating the paranormal.
The month kicks off with two nights of Adult Trick-or-Treat Cocktail & Candy Pairing Tours on Friday, Oct. 17, and Saturday, Oct. 18. The 21-and-over event invites guests to explore the historic home while sampling four Halloween-themed cocktails, each paired with a classic Halloween candy. Tour times are 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person at galionhistory.com/shop. Costumes are highly encouraged.
The Saturday, Oct. 18, event will run alongside the Magical Moon Witches Market on the Brownella Lawn from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A week later, families are invited for Kids Trick-or-Treat After Dark at Brownella Cottage! on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The family-friendly event is designed to be spooky, but not scary, as children visit multiple treat stations inside the home. The event is perfect for ages 12 and under, though all ages are welcome.
The series of events culminates on Halloween night with the Halloween 1937: The Last Rites paranormal investigation. On Oct. 31, guests will step into the home where Bishop William Montgomery Brown died on Halloween night in 1937. The night begins with a history tour and a recreation of the Bishop’s “final drink”—a mixture of orange juice and whiskey—before a self-guided paranormal investigation from 9:30 p.m. until 2 a.m.
The investigation is limited to those 13 and older, and tickets are $50 per person at galionhistory.com/events. Space is limited.
All events take place at Brownella Cottage, 132 S. Union St., Galion, Ohio. For questions or more information, call 419-468-9338 or email galionhistory@gmail.com.
