Staff report
Crawford County has implemented an emergency mass notification system that will be used to contact county/city residents and businesses via phone messages, text messages, and emails in case of emergencies. The system, called “CrawfordAlerts”, will be used by townships, cities and county agencies to notify residents and businesses of emergencies or critical situations and provide information regarding necessary actions. Residents are encouraged to sign up and select preferences for receiving alerts.
Effective on June 27, 2014, the City of Galion will be replacing its emergency notification system. Galion will be ending its contract with the CodeRed system and joining a county-wide notification system called “CrawfordAlerts.” This new system enables citizens to receive many more notifications, if desired, and receiving them via text message and email. The City will continue to utilize the system by sending out voice calls on issues that are an emergency.
To receive notifications residents need to sign up. Residents also have the ability to register for the notifications that they would like to receive and how they would like to receive them. You can simply sign up to only receive voice calls on emergency situations or you can sign up to receive text and/or email notifications on a variety of issues: health department notifications, water issues, street closings and detours and special event notifications.
There is no cost to anyone to sign up for this service. However, your cellphone carrier may charge you to receive text messages or use of minutes, so please check your plan.
To register, please go to: http://entry.inspironlogistics.com/crawford_co_oh/wens.cfm
