The Galion Tiger Alumni Band (GTAB), probably the oldest, continuously active high school alumni band in the state, is getting ready for the annual performance at the Homecoming Game on Friday, September 27, 2013. This event is part of the Connections Weekend sponsored by the Galion City Schools and the Synergy Committee.
GTAB is asking all former bandsmen, flag corps members, and majorettes to become part of this annual event. The deadline to register for this year’s band and auxiliary units is Sunday, September 15. Those wishing to march should contact Brenda Treisch at 419-569-9032 or register on the Galion Alumni Band Facebook page. Let the officers of GTAB know your instrument, the part you would prefer to play, and if you will need an instrument.
Practices for the band will begin Sunday, September 1 at 6:00 p.m. at the Galion High School Band Room. You can register at this time as well. The band will rehearse each Sunday until the game. Practice will last at least one hour.
Music for this year’s performance will include all the traditional pre-game tunes as well as the “spy theme” halftime featuring “Mission Impossible”, “James Bond”, and the “Pink Panther”. GTAB will join this year’s current Tiger Band for both pre-game and halftime performances.
GTAB starting in 1975 and has performed annually every year but one since. Members of GTAB perform throughout the year at parades, festivals, and community events.
