GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Weather permitting, the City of Galion will conduct mosquito spraying in early July, with the northern half of the city scheduled for Thursday, July 3, at 4 a.m. The southern half will be sprayed on Tuesday, July 8, at 4 a.m. Harding Way will serve as the dividing line for the two areas.

Residents are advised to close windows and keep children and pets indoors during the spraying operations.

To aid in mosquito control, the Galion City Health Department offers free mosquito dunks to the public. These dunks can be placed in areas of stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding and are available at the Health Department, located at 113 Harding Way East.

The city also encourages residents to take proactive steps to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds in their yards. These measures include:

  • Emptying, removing, covering, or turning over receptacles that can hold water.
  • Cleaning bird baths twice weekly.
  • Discarding old tires or storing them indoors.
  • Repairing leaky plumbing and outside faucets.
  • Ensuring gutters and downspouts are free of blockage and drain properly.
  • Emptying pets’ water dishes daily.
