The path for the Galion city government continues to be a bit bumpy as the community transitions from the decision to rescind its charter and return to a codified form of government.

Recently appointed Service/Safety Director John Swain has submitted his resignation after less than a month. Swain, a former police chief in the city, took that office on July 22.

In other news City Auditor Brian Treisch has apparently been asked to resign that post by other Galion city officials. Mayor Tom O’Leary is not among those requesting that Treisch resign.

The issue pertaining to Treisch is apparently his lack of meeting the requirements of office. The Ohio Revised Code under which Galion city government must now abide requires that auditors be bonded and Treisch has reportedly not done so.
