GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Galion Service Department is set to commence leaf collection for city residents on November 12. Currently, one crew is sporadically collecting leaves as the work schedule allows. Once full collection begins, crews will visit each neighborhood every 7-10 days, weather permitting.

Residents are advised to rake leaves into the tree lawn in front of their homes for pickup. There is no need to call when leaf piles are ready. To ensure efficient collection, residents should follow these tips:

  • Avoid putting leaves in the street, over storm drains, or around utility poles.
  • Do not park vehicles directly in front of leaf piles, as crews need close access with their equipment.
  • Exclude branches, wood chips, or other yard waste materials from leaf piles, as these can damage equipment.

For yard waste not collected by the city, residents can take it to the Taylor Road Composting Facility on November 15 and 16, from 7:30AM to 2:30PM. each day.
