The Galion City School District Board of Education and the Galion Education Association (GEA) have reached an agreement on a new multi-year contract for teachers in the district. The Board voted unanimously to accept the new contract during a special meeting June 11.
“We are very pleased that the GEA and Board of Education were able to finalize an agreement,” Superintendent Mark Stefanik said. “The negotiation teams worked diligently to put together a contract that benefits the entire Galion City School District.”
The GEA voted favorably to accept the new agreement June 10. The agreement will be in effect from August 2014 until August 2016.
“On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to thank the teachers, their negotiating team and the GEA leadership for their unwavering support of the students in our district,” Board of Education President Jennifer Kuns said. “We are pleased with the new agreement and are excited to move forward with teachers and staff to provide a high quality education for the children of Galion.”
