Press release and staff report
The Ohio Development Services Agency awarded 49 grants totaling $10 million to help local communities across the state enhance public safety and cut costs.
Locally, the City of Galion received a $150,000 grant for an ambulance. In surrounding counties, the City of Mansfield received $66,905 for hazmat equipment and Seneca County was awarded $163,000 for an E911 IT project.
The Local Government Innovation Council provides funding in two ways:
- Local Government Innovation Program (LGIP) offers loan assistance to communities for plans and projects that create more efficient service delivery at the local level.
- Local Government Safety Capital Grant Program (LGSC) offers communities assistance to enhance public safety.
Together, these programs assist communities with shared services and efficiency projects in all aspects of operations.
This is the second round of awards for the Local Government Safety Capital Grant Program, which provides grants for the purchase of vehicles, equipment, facilities, or systems needed to enhance public safety.
“Communities are working together to improve their safety services, and save taxpayers money,” said David Goodman, director of the Ohio Development Services Agency.
