GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Galion Public Library is implementing several operational changes this May, including updated weekday hours and a temporary pause on adult programming as staff prepare for the upcoming summer season.
Starting May 1, the library will shift its Monday through Thursday hours to 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Operating hours for Friday and Saturday will remain unchanged.
While the library remains open for browsing and services, adult programs will be on hiatus throughout May. Library officials stated the pause is necessary to prepare for the “Unearth a Story” Summer Reading program. Regular adult activities are scheduled to resume Monday, June 1, beginning with the popular “Bingo! For Books” event. Registration for the adult Summer Reading challenge also opens that day.
Despite the programming pause, the library has refreshed its themed displays for May:
- Labor History Month: The main entrance features a collection of fiction and nonfiction covering labor history from the 1886 Haymarket Riot to modern-day warehouse and service industry trends.
- National Star Wars Day: A special media display near the DVD section celebrates “May the 4th.”
- National Biographer’s Day: Located near the new book section, this display highlights notable biographies ahead of the May 16 observance.
- National Library Week: The four main display cases continue to showcase “Library Joy” and available resources.
