GALION, OHIO (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) — The Galion Police Department (GPD) and the Ohio Division of Natural Resources (ODNR) conducted a joint operation at the city reservoirs on July 18 and 19, focusing on maintaining cleanliness, safety, and adherence to regulations in these public spaces.
The operation led to several enforcement actions aimed at ensuring responsible use of the reservoirs.
Authorities issued one summons for littering, one citation for reckless operation, three citations for violating posted park hours, and two citations for fishing without a valid license.
GPD and ODNR are committed to promoting lawful recreation and responsible fishing practices while taking a strong stance against violations that threaten public safety and environmental integrity.
Officers have reported positive interactions with community members during their routine patrols, emphasizing a mission of safety, education, and cooperation.
The agencies encourage residents and visitors to protect public lands by properly disposing of waste, acquiring necessary licenses for activities like fishing, and ensuring all watercraft is registered and equipped with required safety gear, specifically avoiding gas-powered motors.
“We appreciate our partnership with ODNR and will continue to collaborate in safeguarding our shared natural resources,” said a GPD spokesperson. “These reservoirs are crucial for Galion’s water supply, and we are dedicated to keeping this vital resource safe for public use.”
