The Galion Police Department and Fraternal Order of Police No. 71 are setting out to help those less fortunate this holiday season.

Both organizations are participating in “Fill the Cruiser” at the Galion Discount Drug Mart tomorrow, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event gives the opportunity for local citizens to give to those in need.

The officers and order members will be accepting hats, coats, gloves, nonperishable food items, toys and monetary donations during the event.

“A lot of guys recognize the importance of giving back to the community,” Galion Police Lt. Marc Rodriguez said. “It was decided at an order meeting that this would be one of the best ways to give back to the community and help those in need, especially the kids.”

Rodriguez said Children’s Services and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church also are a part of the event.

Discount Drug Mart is located at 739 Carter Drive, Galion.
