BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)— A man from Galion, Ohio, has pleaded guilty to three counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and has been sentenced to nearly two decades in prison. Matthew Smith, 52, was found to be in possession of explicit images of juveniles during a child pornography investigation conducted by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office in May. Smith’s residence was searched, and computers and other electronic devices were seized. He has been sentenced to a minimum of 17 years and a maximum of 21 years in prison, with the sentences for each count to be served consecutively.
Six additional charges were dismissed as part of Smith’s plea agreement. Smith will be designated a tier II sex offender.
Smith will receive credit for the 209 days he has already served in the Crawford County Justice Center.
