Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on August 6, 2014 at approximately 1:02 pm on SR 309 at SR 100 in Tully Township in Marion County.

The crash involved a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu driven by George T. Fetch 86, of Mansfield. The second vehicle was a 1999 Freightliner FL80 dump truck driven by Larry J. Steinhilber 65, of Galion.

The Chevrolet was southbound on SR 100 approaching SR 309. The Freightliner was eastbound on SR 309 approaching SR 100. The Chevrolet failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by the Freightliner. The Freightliner pushed both vehicles off the right side of the roadway.

Mr. Fetch was taken to Galion Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Mr. Steinhilber was not injured. Mr. Fetch was not wearing a seatbelt. Mr. Steinhilber was wearing his seatbelt.

The State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Morrow County Sheriff’s Department, First Consolidated Fire, Iberia Volunteer Fire, and Morrow County EMS.

The crash remains under investigation and toxicology results are pending.
