Galion Public Library’s 2015 Adult Summer Reading Program — Escape the Ordinary — begins on June 1 and runs through July 31. GPL patrons over the age of 18 may sign up at any time during the program, but the earlier you sign up, the more chances you have to win.
For every library book you read, you will get a ticket to put into our Weekly Prize Drawings, which will be held on Fridays throughout the program. Each week, three gift cards/gift certificates to local restaurants and stores will be awarded. The more books you read, the more chances you’ll have to win.
All the tickets (including tickets not pulled for the weekly drawings) will be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing, which will take place on Friday, July 31. The Grand Prize of $50 worth of gift cards to Barnes & Noble will be awarded to two lucky winners.
This year we will have another contest going during Summer Reading, the Guess the Amount contest. Each week we will fill a jar, at the front desk, with something new. Patrons are invited to guess the number of items in the jar. The first correct answer we pull will win a prize. If the correct amount is not guessed, then the guess closest to the correct amount will win. The first jar will be put out on Monday, June 1. The last jar will end on Thursday, July 30. Winners will be announced each Thursday.
Programming for Escape the Ordinary will kick off with “Chef Battle” on Saturday, June 20 from 3 – 4 p.m. Teens and adults are invited to join the Cooking Caravan as two Caravan chefs are pitted against each other in an “Iron Chef” style cooking battle using audience members as sous chefs!
This program is offered for free, but registration is required. Please come to the GPL Main Circulation Desk or call the library at 419-468-3203 to register.
