GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Galion Kiwanis Club, in partnership with Russ-Men Farms, is sponsoring a free swim day at the Galion Heise Park swimming pool on Friday, July 19, 2024. The event is open to all who wish to swim, offering a day of fun and relaxation at no cost.

The Galion Kiwanis Club, a service organization with a mission of serving children, is excited about this opportunity. “Our causes are health and nutrition, education and literacy, and youth leadership development,” said club president Brian Treisch. “We also want to provide some fun for the youth of the community, and this was a great opportunity for us to step forward.”

Russ-Men Farms, a fifth-generation farm located east of Galion, has a history of supporting youth projects in the Galion area and beyond. The farm offers a variety of products and is a strong supporter of local agriculture.

In the event of the pool being closed due to unforeseen circumstances, an alternate date will be announced.

In addition to the free swim day, the Galion Kiwanis Club is holding an informational open house on the same day, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Carrie’s Venue, 129 Harding Way East. This event, part of Third Friday in Uptowne Galion, will provide information about Kiwanis and the projects they support. Refreshments will be provided.

“Kiwanis has been a part of Galion for more than 70 years, but most people don’t know what we do or how they can become a part of our mission,” said Treisch. “From events at the library, to our Kids Toy Drive to scholarships and more, we work to support kids in Galion.”

The Galion Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday at noon at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Church of Christ at 248 Harding Way West. Interested individuals are welcome to attend any meeting.
