GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Galion History Center is preparing for a busy spring season, announcing a diverse lineup of events ranging from interactive family activities to an immersive look into the eccentric life of one of Galion’s most famous former residents.

During a recent episode of the Galion History Center podcast, Executive Director Tanisha Pickering and Curator Kylie Cunningham detailed upcoming festivities, including the “Great Brownella Egg Hunt” scheduled for Saturday, March 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. Unlike traditional outdoor hunts, this scavenger-style event will take place inside the historic Brownella Cottage, where children and adults alike can search for large hidden eggs and bunnies while meeting the Easter Bunny.

The center will also lean into wellness trends by hosting a series of “sound baths” led by Desiree Hanning. Utilizing quartz bowls and frequencies to induce relaxation, the hour-long sessions will take place on March 29, April 10, and April 19. Tickets are $20, with proceeds benefiting the preservation of Galion’s historical artifacts.

In honor of Ohio’s America 250 “Transportation Month” in April, the Annex Museum will open its doors on April 9 and April 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. The museum, which houses massive industrial pieces like a 1906 steam fire engine and a steamroller, will feature “On the Move Transportation Texts”—a humorous exhibit where displays “text” visitors to explain their historical significance.

The center also did a deep dive into the “Hidden History” of Emily Lee, the ex-wife of Lee Jeans founder H.D. Lee. Known as a “shopping addict” and hoarder whose 1923 estate sale made national headlines, her story remains one of Galion’s most fascinating local legends.
